FREE Advertising

If you have joined a program or programs to make money online, you will need visitors to your site. That means advertising. A lot of people get turned off by that prospect, or at least the idea of trying to get other people interested in whatever they are selling. The fact is, if you are going to be in ANY kind of money making endeavor online, you will have to advertise to sell your product. On this page you'll find some easy and free methods to advertise your website or program.

There are myriad ways to advertise on the internet but the most effective way is SEO or search engine optimization. You want to have your own website optimized for the search engines so it will be displayed on the first page of search results after someone searches for information related to your site.

Unfortunately, most people that are just getting started with their online business don't have their own website yet. When you join a program, you will get an affiliate site that you can send people to. The problem with these is that the search engines won't send any traffic to affiliate links so you have to find other ways of getting traffic to your product or signup page if that's all you have.

One of the ways I used to use is the paid email programs I talked about on the GPTR page. You buy a number of hits to your webpage and they send their members your link and you get that many people to your site. In theory, it works. In reality, you do get people viewing your page but you won't get that many signups for your programs. If you are selling a unique and in demand product, you may get some sales, but for the most part, the people in these programs are just doing it to get paid for reading email.

The next way that you can get guaranteed traffic to your website is with the click exchanges. These are "surf" programs. Once you sign up for the program, you use it to surf and view websites. For every page or two that you view, you get a hit to the site that you are advertising. They are easy to use and will get eyes on your site. How effective they are you will have to check out yourself. It all depends on what you are advertising. I have had limited success using them. I have gotten some signups and sold some products so I would have to say that they are at least somewhat effective.

The neat thing about them is that while you are surfing, you will get first hand information on what is being advertised out there. You will see the myriad websites and programs that people are using to "make it" online. I surf periodically in these programs just for that reason.

And let me say this about that. WARNING! DANGER WILL ROBINSON! DANGER! Just kidding. Seriously, you WILL be tempted to join a lot of programs that look like THE thing to make money with. DON'T DO IT. I made this mistake when I first started out. What happens is, you get into so many programs that you can't devote enough time to make any of them work and you end up failing with all of them.

You will see "get paid to" sites of all kinds, affiliate programs, investment programs, etc. etc. Take a look at them to educate yourself.  You can learn a lot just by looking at these different kinds of programs. Just don't start blindly joining them or you will get buried with too much to keep track of very fast.

If you are here looking at how to advertise, you are probably already in a program but if not and you want my advice on what to look out for when looking at affiliate programs click here.

As far as the click exchange programs go, there are two main types. The manual surf programs and the auto surf type. With the manual surf, you have to click a button on the screen to go to the next site, wait for the timer to expire and then click again. With auto surf, you just start it and it will go from site to site every 30 seconds or so without you having to click anything.

On the surface, the auto surf type seems the way to go but when you examine it a little more closely, it make more sense to use the manual surf type. You want other people to see your site, right? If they are using the auto surf site, they may or may not be in front of their computer when your site appears. If they are surfing manually they have to be there at their computer to click from site to site so they will be there looking at your site when it is displayed. That's what you want. People looking at your program or product.

Here are some of the manual click exchange programs for you to check out. These have been around a long time and they have a lot of users so you are guaranteed traffic to your website.

EasyHits4U.com - Your Free Traffic Exchange - 1:1 Exchange Ratio, 5-Tier Referral Program. FREE Advertising! JOIN EasyHits4U

Some of the sites will give you free hits just for joining so you can get some instant traffic to your site. Join some of them and try them out. They are all free so it won't cost you anything and it may pay off. Even if you sell one product or get one signup, it's a good return if you consider the cost of advertising was FREE.

A similar program to a click exchange is a start page exchange. You get hits to your site by setting your start page or home page to the exchange URL and when you open your browser you automatically get hits to your site. Check out Traffic Swarm here. I use it and it works.

Online free classified ads -  A quick and easy way to place internet ads for free. You may have to place ads several times a week to get much response from them do to the large numbers of ads that get placed on these sites but they do work. A couple of the ones I use are Ablewise.com Free Classifieds and KickAds.

When you are looking for ways to advertise, don't forget about offline advertising. You may have to spend some money to do much advertising offline but if you get a good return, it could well be worth it.

You can place ads in the real classifieds in the newspaper or magazines. You can have some business cards or flyers printed up or you can even print them up on your own computer.

Business cards are a given. If you're serious about building a business, you have to have a business card. If you're at a party or gathering and the topic of discussion is anything related to business, you want to have cards to hand out to anyone that might be interested. It works great if you have your own website, have the URL on the card. If you don't have your own site, put your business email on the card and tell them to email you for information if they are interested. You have a prospect.

Business cards are fairly inexpensive to have printed. You can even design them and print them yourself with your computer and printer on cardstock you can buy at your local office supply or online, but here's a place you can design and get your first batch of cards free, Vista Print.

I print up an ad for my website and my affiliate page that fills half a page. When I print them I get two ads per sheet of paper. I print them up a few dozen at a time and when I pay my bills, I insert one in with the bill when I send it back. Who knows, the person working there opening up mail may be sitting there wishing there was a way they could get out of their boring job and get into business for themselves. My flyer advertises this website. So those of you that got here by reading one of my flyers, it worked didn't it? Read on.

Do you get junk mail? Do you get it with the postage paid return envelope inside? What do you do with it; throw it away? I used to. Now I insert one of my ads in it and drop it in the mail. I send out an ad and it doesn't cost me a thing. You never know who's just waiting to hear about your product or program.

Another simple way to advertise daily is by using a signature in your emails. Most email programs will let you set one up to automatically insert the signature in every email you send. I use simple concise statements hyperlinked to my websites such as these: FREE Home Business and Make Money Online

One or the other gets inserted at the bottom of every outgoing email I send, including all the jokes and forwards I get in my personal email. When they get forwarded on all around the internet, my link goes with it.

There are lots of ways to get people to your site or signup page. You just have to be a little creative and keep at it. You won't find any one way of advertising that will be the total answer. You have to use everything you can find. If after a while you notice you are not getting any response from one method and you are another, by all means give up the dead one and use the other. Just keep an open mind when it comes to finding ways to get your site seen and don't be afraid to try new things.

If you want to move on to paid advertising, you can buy ads on search engine pages. You can place ads on program pages in the form of banners or links. You can even buy placement in paid search engine listings. I don't recommend this when you start out however. Especially if you are advertising to get signups in a paid email program for instance. You will spend a lot more for the ad or placement then you will ever get back from the few signups you will get.

If you are advertising an affiliate program for signups, you have to weigh the cost of the advertising against the return you will get from building your downline in the program. That's why I don't recommend you jump right into paid advertising. Get a little experience with the free advertising first.

Different methods work better or worse at different times or for different products and services too. The hit exchanges might work better for getting signups to paid email or paid survey sites but if you are selling financial planning or life insurance, you might not get that much of a response. Free classifieds might work better for your home business affiliate program, but if you are selling a recipe book or something, you are not going to get that many people looking in the classifieds for that. Think about where you would look for what you are selling.

Advertise on your vehicle - If you have your own website, a unique idea for advertising is to use your vehicle. I know you've seen commercial vehicles with their company name and phone number on the side but that's not exactly what I am talking about. There is a company that makes emblems that go on your car that look like the model name plate of the car but they can put anything you like on it. It's a great way to put your website domain name on the back of your car. You can your website name in front of as many people as see the back of your car in an average week.

The company is called ID IT Plates. There is another company that does a similar thing with decals that go on the rear window. They are called Web Decal.

It is not only great advertising but they both have affiliate programs which gives you two additional sources of income to add to your online business. Signup is FREE of course and they provide you with web pages to advertise their products and make commissions.

Advertise on your shirt - Another easy way to advertise your website is to put it on a T-Shirt or other products that will get seen by people. You can easily design your own at CafePress or take a look at these at the AllWebSuccess.com online store.
